Dearest Friend,
There's this idea running around in my head....
There's something about seeing the stars. They seem to come alive; to have souls. It's almost inherent to think of them as something more than just hot air and weird particles. My imagination keeps playing with them. Probably something to do with perseids....
I can imagine a star, shining down, watching humanity ebb and flow like a tide. Good conquering evil, evil conquering good, lovers loving or quarreling, joy and tragedy illuminated by the emanating light of one star. The star is fixed for millennia, unable to change, unable to move, unable to see anything but the tops of clouds or the chaotic late night activities of those below it, Occasionally, lightning will ignite the sky, shedding a new luminescence over the globe. Glimpses of new places, unexplored by the star, unattainable for it to touch or study. How sad it must be to be a star?
Until, one day, something effervescent bubbles inside of the star, a warming, incredible sensation that something huge is about to happen....then
Bam
The star is launched into freedom through a firey explosion of light that allows it to see the world in it's entirety. The sun that has been teasing it for eternity, the oceans, the mountains, new lands and new lives flash by. How long would it take the star to realize the weight of the wishes attached to its tail?
Yet, as quickly as its freedom is granted, the star is gone.
I wonder if the star ever knew the millions of eyes that were laid upon it, or the guidance and joy it gave from its spot in the sky?
I wonder where it took my wish...
I wonder what it would feel like to be a shooting star...

ReplyDeleteWhat joy and what terror when the shooting star also gets its wish.
